Marriage. Not for everyone and only the resilient last. This suburban tale exudes inevitable childhood tears and unknown fears of familiar matrimonial anguish where a relationship hangs on by a fragile child-shaped thread. The sheer honesty brings you to your knees while the expressive arrangement manages to remain sophisticated without surrendering to nano-trends.
But is it necessarily a problem to just let it be? If by the tales Luxembourg tell, you’d have to do a lot not to call the divorce lawyers. ‘Its years since I have seen you without clothes/There were times we only stayed together for the kids’. Angular guitars weave through the hazy, nonchalant vocals that stir ghosts of the past, notably Morrissey and Ferry. Their classic pop soaked in synths and intellectual lyrics casts a helping hand to those longing for more than a pathetic attempt at a former zeitgeist.
Luxembourg join the queue for the resurgence of ageless pop-rock who threaten to storm the scene and with this effort they suggest that their future debut album will continue in their elegant yet sincere account of reality. We can only wait.
